Arkansas Quantum Network

Background

The Arkansas Quantum Working Group focuses on the development of a Quantum Network (AQN). The AQN is an experimental network connecting UA Little Rock and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), utilizing existing ARE-ON dark fiber and specialized quantum hardware such as the Qunnect Carina rack.

The Arkansas Quantum Network could enable research into application development such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), precision time distribution, and next-generation quantum communication research. By leveraging Arkansas' existing fiber infrastructure, the project creates a statewide experimental testbed for education, research, and workforce development in quantum information science.
